TENNIS - Things you are responsible for so far!!!
1) The Diamond Drill
3-on-3 tennis with one,two or three players waiting to rotate in
one person positions himself/herself on the 'T" of the service boxes - the two other players are on the baseline. The players who are waiting position themselves well out-of-bounds behind the players on the baseline
Rotate players after every point
2) Toss / Hit / Catch
Two players catching with their hands on the opposite baseline One person "Tossing" the ball to the "Hitter" and one player catching ( with their hands) for the "tosser" Five people on the court altogether. Two catchers on one side. A catcher, tosser and hitter on the other side.
3) Scoring - A player has to win four points to win a game
0-0
15-0
30-0
40-0
Game
4) Origin of "Love"
Remember the English were checking out the game of French royalty called court tennis. When the french called out the score for zero They called it like an "egg" or nothing. In French, the word "l'oeuf" is egg. The English thought they were saying "love" and not "l'oeuf" that is how tennis now has the word "love" for zero.
5) CUES - FOREHAND There are many but the ones you will be responsible for are
1-Turn your body completely sideways
2-Swing the racquet from low to high creating topspin on the ball upon contact
3-Make contact with the ball when it is parallel to your front foot
4-Wherever the strings of the racquet are facing that is where the ball will go!
Bonus- watch the ball hit the strings
